Hi, I have a home network going through a broadband modem connected to a
D-Link router.

the main pc is connected through a cable, the two kids computers are
wireless. this all works flawlessly.

but...

i have now added a laptop connected wirelessly.

my problem is that i cannot access the laptop through remote desktop through
any other computer.

points:

i can connect any other computer to any of the others with no problems

i can initiate RD FROM the laptop but not to it

internet etc is perfect on the laptop

i can ping to/from the laptop with no problem

i can set up shared network folders etc and access them with no problems

firewalls are all turned off (including windows)

i have tried port forwarding on the router, even tried having all computers
in DMZ

number of connections has been set to unlimited in group policy

i have assigned static IP's and as i said these work fine

obviously remote desktop is enabled on the laptop

i have tried setting up alternate accounts, but the problem is the
connection not the 'logging on'

streuth, i really can feel a headache coming on, anyone got any (however
small) clues please?

i have even tried using a cable to connect with new IP but no joy.

thanks in advance,

Neil

You should make sure Terminal Services is running on the laptop, etc... See the troubleshooting
section on this page...

In addition, some Anti-Virus programs block RDP including NAV 2005 worm protection which is
mentioned frequently on these forums...

Try rolling back termsrv.dll in the systm32 directory of the host machine.
It fixed the problem
for me.

The one I went back to came with SP1. 196K dated 8/29/02.
