No neccessarily. I've tried numerous downloads from the
java.sun.com website and I still have java/javascript
problems.

Correct, after installing the latest Microsoft updates my
IE 6.0 has Java script problems. I haven't found a
solution yet, but downloading the SUn java didn't do the
trick...

JavaScript does not use Java. They are not related.
