Hi -

I'm using XP home edition, IE 6 with all patches. It seems like it won't
open any window with java script in it. I get a message about a script
error. I've called Dell and my cable internet provider and we've gone
through all the settings which seem to be right. It's possible I deleted
something I shouldn't have when trying to clean the computer of all the crap
my kids download. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

it appears that the problem is that you followed ms advice and installed
patches. It seems IE 6 w/SP1 installed does NOT
process these events properly. There is one case that I
know of that has SP1 installed, but also has Q818529 and
Q330994 installed and that person does NOT get script
errors. A person with SP1 and Q822925 installed DOES get
the errors.

I may have a simmialr problem. When I click on an wed
link that should open a window nothing happens. I checked
all internet settings, and the effect happens in both
Internet Explorer and the "N" browser.

After turning on the report all script error function I
get the following information when I click on some images
that would normally open a new window:
Line:146
char:2
Error: Object doesn't support this property or method
code:0
The images used to work, and it's mainly on professional
web sites. I couldn't use the "New Post", "Post Reply",
or "Search" buttons for these newsgroupd from that
computer either ( no error, but nothing happened either).

The line and character are different for different web
pages, but the error codes are the same. I checked the
error log file and I have a large number of entries
indicating that the "Service Control Manager" has an
error: "The Application Management service terminated with
the following error: The specified module could not be
found." listed. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall
Jav a and Microsoft's JVM, but have not been able to fix
it. Is this what you are seeing?
Thanks, Bryan
