Though I am not new to most systems, I am new to xp, and
I can not get java to show up and I do not quite
understand. I can not even find a thing on ie6 to say
enable java in the intenet options box. Perhaps i can get
an answer to why and what to do from here?

Hi Adsley,

If you are running XP SP1a, it does not support JAVA. You will need to go to
the SUN's web-site and download their JAVA or do a Google search and find a
download for MSVM.

LOL, JAX

The problem I see here is the list of operating systems
does not include xp.. though I did go through the troble
shooting ideas on this page and the one jave game works,
but the jave chats i tried to enter do not show up at
all .. and at least one jave script txt box from another
site.. but thanks for the link :)

Seems this was a good suggestion, but from what I see at
sun and after downloading their program, it was un able
to install... weird old microsoft .. figures they would
make life annoying

Hi Adsley,
It is possible to use the m/soft java machine, available via
Start/ Settings/Control Panel/ Internet Options/Advanced/ check the box
under 'M/soft VM'
JIT Compiler for virtual machine (req. restart)
Rob.

it is checked on mine and applets still wont load. grrrrr

Greetings --

As the result of a lawsuit by Sun Microsystems, and the ensuing
settlement, Microsoft is no longer allowed to provide its own Java
Virtual Machine to Windows users. You can get almost the same
functionality by downloading Sun's version of Java from
http://java.sun.com/getjava/index.html. If you want the broader
capabilities of Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine, it is still
available from a lot of 3rd-party web sites, some of which are listed
here: http://www.java-virtual-machine.net/download.html.
