Java Virtual Machine

Somehow my browser has lost the ability to support Java. I
must have deleted something. A pop up appears, do you wish
to download the Virtual Machine. Click on yes..brings me
to Microsoft Support Page but do not know what to
download. So many options. Can anyone give me some advice
on what to download. Some of the sites I go to require
java applications. Thanks in advance for any assistance
that you can provide.
