Platform: Windows XP SP2. I've got two versions of Java runtime installed:
1.5.0_09 and 1.6.0._03 on my machine. Are they likely to conflict with each
other? Should I just keep them as it is or is 1.5.0_09 dispensable? I don't
know.

My machine poped up a message yesterday saying that a "java update was
available and did I want to download and install" which I did.
When I looked in add/remove programs there was two of them, so I uninstalled
the earliest one and all seems ok.

Oivind-
Yes you should uninstall the previous version(s) since the updates don't remove or
overwrite them, as most program updates do.
The latest version is 6- update 3.

To be honest it is more to save disk space than to avoid conflicts. Each
Java JRE takes up 100+ MB of disk space and you only need one at a time.
