Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 11 is now available.

* Build number: 1.6.0_11-b03
* Download: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/?intcmp=1281
* Release Notes: (not yet available)
* Installation Instructions:
http://java.sun.com/javase/6/webnotes/install/index.html

If you already have JRE 6 Update 10 installed, there is no longer a need
to uninstall it - Update 11 is an update to this version.

If you have JRE 6 Update 7 or earlier, these must be uninstalled before
or after the Update 11 installation.

Sorry, but this is the only one I see at you link: Java SE Runtime

Where is Update 11 hiding???

Robb

Good question!

It was there last night and early this morning, I downloaded it from:

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

It was there in big bold letters "Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update
11" and this is the file the download gave me:

"jre-6u11-windows-i586-p.exe"

The only thing that wasn't there last night and this morning were the
release notes for Update 11, but now(like you) I see that Update 11 has been
pulled and replaced with Update 10 again, don't know why they've pulled
Update 11 from the server.

Good luck,

Donald Anadell

I put in a new monitor on a machine just at the end of the day today. I
noticed that it had a notification tray icon for an update to JRE 6 update
10, so I put that in, and then went to add or remove and removed 7. Then,
on a whim, I opened the java icon in control panel and hit the update now
button--and it pulled in update 11, which replaced 10 directly.

So--this version should be coming in via automatic update within Java, if
you have that turned on. That's a flag for me to put it in on all
machines--they don't usually distribute every release via the automatic
update function.

I clicked on the update button in Java icon in control panel and got the
update 11
at the end it talks about javafx and says when you click "Finish" it will
install it- but it doesn't
I went to www.java.com/javafx and it says it is not ready yet
What is javafx and what is it for? and do we need it?

as it happens, I just saw something about Javafx:

http://tech.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/12/04/2226228&from=rss

Basically, it says that it is a competitor for Adobe's Flash, and
Microsoft's Silverlight.

Frankly, I think flash and silverlight are probably enough--not sure I need
a third player in this area, but the key question will be who will adopt it
and will they provide content using it that I want to see?

So far, most, but unfortunately not all, flash content is stuff I DON'T want
to see. Silverlight I'm not sure about yet.
