Java is very slow - can this be fixed?

My old pc had windows 2000 and had no prob with java applets. They ran
seamlessly... now, I wait and wait... and sometimes even the coffe mug icon
comes up and im still waiting...

Is this all cuz of the MSFT / SUN lawsuit and there's nothing i can do? Its
annoying to get a new / upgraded computer and have it run slower.

What's your current OS? Have you tried to uninstall then redownload Java
from Sun?

I have XP now, but I think the java I have is by microsoft (?) im not exactly
sure about the java. it says "Java (IBM) - Use Java 2 v 1.4.1 for <applet>
(requires restart) and it is checked. Is this IBM's Java? I didn't know
they even made a java... so maybe i need to uninstall that and install sun's
product? Do you know sun's website? sorry for all the questions. thanks
for your help. I think you ar eright about the IE thing - i tried what you
said and it seems to be better on amazon.com so far.

That's not MS' version of Java, that's the Sun version.

You need to uninstall Java and install a newer version:
http://www.java.com
