Trying to download Java from www.java.com , I get this message:
"This release of Java SE is supported only on the generally available
release of Windows Vista."
Is that some twisted way of saying it doesn't support 64-bit Vista?
Is this supposed to change at some point?

1. Have you successfully downloaded Java and can't install it or is it a
problem actually downloading it?
2. What version of Java are you trying to install? Java 5 or Java 6? Java
6 runs fine on Vista x64.
3. Which architecture Java are you trying to install re 32 or 64-bit?
32-bit runs fine on Vista x64 (I haven't tried 64-bit).

Uh......
Looks like I was misreading that message. I guess it was an advance warning
(that it wouldn work on betas and RCs? ).
I thought it was telling me I couldn't download because of the version of
Vista I was using (64-bit OEM).
Went back and tried again and everything is fine.
Duh.

I found that java is not supported with IE 64-bit version, but I had no
problem installing it with IE-32 bit

Yeah. That was my experience under Win XP Professional X64. But when I got
that message using Vista, I made sure I was in the 32-bit IE7.
I simply misunderstood the message.
