My AVG resident shield is detecting a Java/ByteVerify virus in file

c:\WINDOWS\Temp\tmp3.tmp

I get numerous detection with the only thing changing is the tmp file number.
Norton says that this problem was addressed in

Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-011

I am not able to figure out how to resolve this issue. My automatic updates
are on.

Is there any help??

Ramesh,

Thank you for your advise. I am running Windows XP. I went to windows
update and it say I have no critical updates to download. I tried to find
the update you refereced but cannot figure out how to download or if it
already has been downloaded. I am still getting those errors from AVG. Is
there a way you can step by step me to fix this problem?

Bob

Ramesh,

Thank you again for your patience. It shows I have Microsoft (R)
Command-line
Loader for Java Version 5.00.3810 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1996-2000.

I am still recieving the AVG Resident Shield Virus Detected in path

c:\WINDOWS\Temp\tmp918.tmp

What would be my next step??

Bob,

No idea why the message appears. It may be a false-positive but let's not
ignore the error. When does this happen exactly. If this happens while
browsing, in which particular site. Meanwhile, try the TrendMicro's Sysclean
package (stand-alone scanner, does not require installation).. Full details
are available in this page:

Ramesh,

I am able to make it appear when I go to "start", "my documents", and try to
edit one of my documents. I just tried it and the virus message came up 8
times.

Also, I am able to make it happen by "start", "internet explorer", "google
search".
This time the virus message was 4 times.

I will go to the Generic Trojan web site you recommended while awaiting your
reply.

Thank you
