Using Windows XP Provessional, Office XP Service Pack 3. When I or the other
users of the database, there occasionaly is a record that gets laced with
Japanese. This causes the database to crash and I have to make a copy of the
table excluding the damaged record to restore the database. Is there anything
that can be done to eliminate this problem. Counting myself who created the
database, there are 10 users. This database was converted from Access 97
where it ran for years without this problem.

The symptoms indicate that either the record is corrupted, an index of the
table is corrupted, or the pointer for a memo field in the record is
corrupted.

Try a basic repair:
Tools | Database Utilities | Repair

If that does not solve the problem and you cannot even delete the bad
record, try the steps for the 4th symptom in this article:

To prevent the problem, ensure that the database is split, and that all
users have the same service pack for both Office XP and also (crucially) for
JET 4.

If splitting is a new concept, see:

Some more data has come to my attention. It apparently only happens when the
users are printing the form to Adobe Acrobat. I believe all are using Acrobat
7.0, but some may still be on 5.0. I became aware that 5.0 was not compatible
with Office 2002 so I am having all users upgrade to 7.0. I will check out
all the proposals in the responses.
