I've lost the Edit and Help keyboard shortcuts

The keyboard shortcuts for Edit and Help seem to be gone.
When I hit Alt-E or Alt-H, nothing happens. I exited the
program and started it again, and rebooted, but they
didn't come back. They work in other programs, just not
Word. Can you tell me how to get them back or recreate
them? Thanks!

Are the E in Edit and the H in Help still underlined on the Menu Bar?

Yes, Suzanne, they are, and I have discovered that if I
hit Alt and wait, FILE lights up, and then I can arrow
down or across to get the menus. But I'd really like my
macros back. I apparently lost them because I created Alt
macros for a document I was working on, and used those
letters. Even though I told it to save them only in that
document, apparently it affected Word as a whole...?

Go to Tools | Customize, find the macros, and unassign those shortcuts.
They'll then be released back to Edit and Help. And in the future, you may
want to use Ctrl+Alt or Shift+Alt instead of just Alt!
