YES, I'M YELLING!!!! I've now spent SEVERAL DAYS trying to get my SIMPLE
home network of three computers to work - IT WORKED JUST FINE until very
recently when my router died and I replaced it - now NOTHING WORKS. I can
ping all three computers - TWO of them will recognized all three on the
network but can't access anything on the third one. The third one can ping
the others but NOTHING ELSE. In addition, all I can get when trying to
access the third computer is "You Might Not Have Permission To Use This
Network Resource" Gosh, isn't THAT nice. When "MIGHT" get permission to them
again?!?! I've ALWAYS had adminstrative rights to all three machines. WHAT
is going on?!!? Did MS DO something in one of their recent updates. I'm
FEEDUP with WASTING SO MUCH TIME!!!!!

So what changed? According to you, the only thing that changed was the ROUTER.
Think that just MIGHT have relevance?
Have you carefully gone over the instructions for configuring that new router?
The error message ""You Might Not Have Permission To Use This Network Resource"
is often the result of some firewall program.
Does that new router include its own firewall program?
If so, it needs to be properly configured.
Do you have any third-party firewall program installed?
If so, it needs to be properly configured.
Check to make sure that the XP ICF is NOT enabled on for any of
the Local Area Connections in Network Connections:

HOW TO: Enable or Disable Internet Connection Firewall in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;283673&Product=winxp

In fact, it would be best to turn off all firewalls while troubleshooting the network
and then turn them back on and properly configure them after the network is working
properly. The type of network that you are using should not have the XP ICF enabled
on any connection. It is meant to be used by ONE computer connecting to the Internet.

I went round and round in circles because my neighbour's
even simpler home network just instantaneously stopped
working for no apparent reason.
In the end I ran spy-bot search and destroy from
www.safer-networking.org, and it just magically started
working again.
However, if your new router has never worked then maybe
its something to do with that. There was a Microsoft
update , I think something like kb8..942 or something
that was a wireless rollup with new WEP support(search
for wireless rollup or WEP or something in the knowledge
base - vague enough!). I guess if this has been
installed on one of your computers but not the others
there might be a problem. Apparently if you install this
and your router doesn't have hardware support for it then
you can have problems, and you should uninstall it.
However it is not a critical update and so you have to
select it yourself - so I guess unlikely.
I would try to be of more help, but you YELLED!
