iTunes with MM2

I want to use the pay for, one-off purchase idea of iTunes, but heard the files need to be converted somehow to be used with MM2. Can someone please give me specific instructions on how to do this

I want to simply add a few songs to my movies, but don't know how to obtain the files that work without signing up for some subscription service deal.

Thanks.

Here's an extract from the iTunes help file "Purchased songs are encoded
using MPEG-4 Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) format, a high-quality format that
rivals CD quality."

AAC is not listed as one of the file types that MM2 can import.

Hi,

A follow-up note... I just signed up with the Apple Store and downloaded my
first iTunes song for 99 cents. I wanted to learn and test the process.

It downloads as an .m4p file. There's a feature in iTunes to convert a file
into MP3, but when I tried to do it with the downloaded song, I get an error
message saying that protected files can't be converted to other formats.
And downloaded music is protected.

I tried importing the .m4p file into MM1 and MM2 and it doesn't work....

There are ways to get the music into MM2, but not without breaking copyright
rules.

My final comment about music downloaded from iTunes.... I just updated my
website's Importing Source Files > Music and Audio.

The closing comment about such music is:

"I play the music in iTunes and record it directly to MM2 as a narration
file from my laptop's microphone. The recorded music is a WMA file with a
bitrate of 79kbps, 16 bit sample size, stereo, 44 kHz sample rate.... fine
for mixing into my home videos."

Thank you so much for all your research. I don't have a microphone, so I guess the search is back on....

Howdy folks. The answer to your compatability problem is fairly straightforward, but takes a little work
1. Burn your iTunes song(s) to a CD as an Audio file (.wav or .aiff I don't know which it is in Windows world
2. Next rip (import) your audio CD in Windows Media Player as a .wma (if MM2 supports .wma's

You should be able to use the results of that little workaround. It looses a little bit of quality with all the back and forth ripping, but not as much as running it through a microphone. I would say this is probably fair-use for your home movies, but I'm no judge

Hope that helps!
