Hi - can anyone help with my problem? My iTunes is so slow when adding
new information it's almost unusable...
I've always used iTunes to maintain all my music - my My Music folder,
all my music (about 20GB) and the iTunes library files are all on a
hard disk attached to a NSLU2 network storage device. iTunes is
installed and runs on my laptap with a wireless connection to my router
and the NSLU2. When I'm just playing music or burning CD's or ripping
CD's it's fine. The problem comes when I want to import files. If I
download an album from another source, then select 'Add folder to
library', it can take up to half an hour just add one album. Last night
I had a similiar problem when I added some album art by pasting a
little .gif file into the 'info' section. That took about an hour.
I have all the same music on my work machine, but stored on its local
hard drive. When I select 'Add folder', I can add all my files in one
go and it takes a few minutes.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem. I think that iTunes
always has to have its library files and all the music stored within
the My Music folder. Is this true? I don't whether it's the fact that
the library file is on the network or the music is on the network that
is causing the problem.
Thanks
Simon
