My daughter is using iTunes on her XP computer and really likes it.

My concern is, one day when we get a new family PC, I don't know how to move
the digital music files to a new PC because they have digital rights tying
them to that PC (I know they can play from a CD, but she plays them from her
disk a lot.)

I have found an article how to migrate Windows Media music to a new PC, is
it possible to permanently move the music to a new PC by migrating the DRM
licenses somehow? I searched on the Internet and really couldn't find
anything, a reply or a link to the answer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I highly doubt it if it has MS DRM. If the music is in
the WMA format your out of luck unfortunately because
iTunes doesn't play that format. iTunes will play MP3 and
AAC. iTunes is a pretty nice program but is limited in
formats so you have less choice.

No that's not right - I found it. iTunes music can be played on up to 3
authorized computers, and you just need to deauthorize a computer when you
put it out of service or give/sell it.
