iTunes installation Problem

I've installed the new version of iTunes and Quicktime over four times and I
can't get iTunes to work, but Quicktime seems ok.

When I try to open iTunes I get the following message:

This application has failed to start because Webkit.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix the problem.

I click ok and I get the following message:

iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes

Error 7 (Windows error 126)

My wife uses iTunes all the time with her iPod so I have to take care of
this problem.

Please help!.....suggestionsplease!

Sometimes, there is an issue with the 32 bit version versus
the 64 bit version of iTunes. You'd start, by checking whether
the OS is 32 bit or 64 bit. This would be more of a potential
issue with Windows 7, because either 32 bit or 64 bit versions
are readily available (the new laptop I got, was set up for
64 bit, for example).

When you go to the Apple download page, it attempts to guess
what OS you're using. But you, as the user, should be double
checking the choice it made, for sanity. If the package
doesn't work, one reason could be due to a mismatch.

At one time, the iTunes installer didn't put the files
in the right places, and set things up wrong, depending
on 32 versus 64 bit. Presumably that is fixed by now.

When posting a problem report, you should include details
on the version of Windows being used, as well as the
version of iTunes downloaded. That would allow someone
to answer, who owns that combo.

The Apple forums are fine, if you can find an answer. But
sometimes, the answer comes from elsewhere. A search engine
is really the best place to start, because it may include
indexing the Apple forums as part of its search. Search
engines I use, are www.google.com and www.altavista.com .

Good luck,
Paul
