Hi,

I have an Mp3 Player (not iPod) and have downloaded some files from iTunes in Protected AAC format. It won't let me convert to Mp3 format so I can use them on my portable Mp3? Is this because they are only compatible with iPod? This wasn't made clear by Apple and I feel i've been had!

Thanks

KGB,

That wont work, i've used iTunes many times because of my iPod, and when you purchase music it protects it in a MPEG Layer 4 format, and to unprotect this or change the format of it, you must first use the burn to cd feature as Postill already mentioned. Then rip it back off with Windows Media, or i use DBPowerAmp, which can convert it into anything you choose, so aslong as you have the codec installed.

The convert to AAC in iTunes will not work if the original file is still a protected MPEG Layer 4.

HTH

Chris,

Maybe Imrie missed something...

I have never used iTunes but read that you can burn to CD - if WMP can read it, you got no probs.
