What a great idea...take your photos, put them in a slide
show and share them with your family and friends. I have
read this for the last year. What a crock!!!

I started out using VCD software. Worked on a project for
days...the project worked great on my computer and my DVD
player so I sent copies to ten different locations around
the country. It only played for one of my family!!!

I was so dicouraged I didn't touch the stuff for months.

Then a friend told me about the DVD burners. I foolishly
got excited about photo slide shows again. Invested
hundreds in a good burner and software. The nightmare
started again...Roxio (what CRAP!) crashed XP, produced
lousy photos and music skipped.

Determined to make my investment pay off I bought Cakewalk
Software, worked OK but not much editing ability. Then I
happened across Movie Maker 2. Viola! my problems were
solved. How easy to use, what quality, what a dream. Now
only if I could share it with my family. Because sure
enough it won't work on my sisters DVD player.

When they advertise "SHARE ANYWHERE" don't believe it and
don't waste the money. They just are not there yet.

You can do a lot to try and ensure compatibility, but
again it is also down to a bit of luck.
Changing the media you use, and making sure it is of a
high quality helps.
Make sure the settings used are within dvd standards, ie
bitrates.
The type of disc, - is probably better than + which are
better than rw's on some players. The newer the player
teh better it'll be
The list goes on, but for me so far I've made tens of
discs and they have all played were they have gone to.

It's emerging technology. I had to purchase a new DVD player when I started
creating my own DVD's. I have a number of relatives who still don't know
what a DVD player is and who've never owned a PC.

"Share Anywhere" is possible, but only if "Anywhere" has the proper DVD
player. With DVD players relatively inexpensive now, it's "Share Anywhere",
but be prepared to ship a new DVD player with the first DVD you release to
your sister. She'll love you for it.

A new DVD player is cheaper than a new slide or video projector, the cost of
keeping your sister up with jonses is coming down relatively fast :-)
