Their is a pc in our office running xp with a shared
laserjet printer connected via parallel. The printer for
some reason is showing up on only XP systems around the
office... The strange thing is that it added it itself..
How do i prevent it from adding to new xp systems that we
plan getting?

By default, as a way of making networking easier, XP automatically
finds shared resources belonging to other computers on the network.

To prevent XP from doing that, open My Computer, click Tools | Folder
Options | View, and un-check "Automatically search for network folders
and printers". That will also prevent XP from automatically putting
shortcuts to shared disks and folders in My Network Places, which
might be undesirable.

May I ask a question? Having shared a printer, why don't you want it
to appear on other computers?
