Iterating Report Server fields in Remote Mode

I know I can get the fields from a local report, but is there a method
that can be used to retrieve all the field names from a Report Server,
running Remotely?

Or, do I always have to know in advance what the field names are before
I can send a parameter list to a Report Server ( for use in a
ReportViewer control).
