Hello,

Microsoft Office XP Pro SP 3 w/o Exchange

I have a user who is missing several (random) email messages from his PST.
The folders are NOT being Archived, even so, the items were not old enough
to be archived. The search companion and Windows Desktop Search are unable
to find them. The user is 100% certain these items were not deleted, and do
not appear in Deleted Items folder. The PST file is approximately 125 MB
with an Archive PST at approximately 400 MB.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Only thing, I can imagine now is using IMAP account and "remote deletion" on
IMAP account.
But if it's in personal folder, maybe some hard disk problems occured - I've
seen some tools for repairing pst files and restoring missing emails... try
to google for them..
Let us know, if deleted items folder is cleared on exit or not :) Maybe user
have problems with keyboard and "DEL" key :)

Regards

I've never heard of any instances of "random" deletions. Have the user pay
attention to what he or she does just before they notice something gone
missing and have them tell us what that is.
