items missing from recycle bin

Thanks in advance,
The problem is that when i open my recycle bin there are no
files/items in the recycle bin. I have checked that that
the items are been sent to the bin. If i use disk clean up
or one of the other methods to empty the bin it shows the
files to be in the bin, but won't show me them. I can
delete the files, but not view them. I know its something
simple, but i haven't a clue how to correct it.

Reset the Recycle Bin: boot to the Recovery Console and use the DEL
command to delete all contents from the RECYCLED folers on all drives.
Then use RD to delete the RECYCLED folders as well. Restart.
