Items in 'Deleted Items'

I can see old emails in my 'deleted items' file, when I empty this folder
these emails are still visible, I try to delete them one by one but an
unknown error occurs. Any ideas?

under edit at the top of the page, it says, remove all deleted items or
something like that. just click on it and a window will come up asking you if
you are sure
