My history window shows that i've allowed items to run on my computer.

They are all listed as "Unknown"

When I select "Allowed Items" to change the action of allowed. They do not
show up on my Allowed Items. Is this a bug?

Hi,

Your history is showing stuff that we don't recognize, as you see, but the
"allowed items" list is for stuff we detect (potential threats) that you want
to run.

Not a bug, per se, but it's understandable that you're confused.

Any recommendations of how we could make the difference clear?

Thanks for trying Windows Defender,
Joe

Joe,

I'm experiencing the same phenomenon as Bostonbill - every time I open
Outlook Express, WD notifies me about Cloudmark Desktop (for Outlook Express)
making changes and saying "This program has potentially unwanted behavior."
Every time, I hit allow and it goes to the history but doesn't "save" this
preference. Anyway to have it become an allowed item? Otherwise, how about
a user authorized item, sort of a "Remember My Settings" options? I think
this is very important, as people will not want to take the same actions
dozens of times a day, week or month. Thanks.

Essentially the same problem -- I'm having to "allow" the same program every
time I boot. According to the help file there is supposed to be an "always
allow" option, but all I get "allow" which adds the "exception" to the
history but doesn't save the action. There has to be an easy "fix" for this.

I'm having the same problem. In the Windows Defender help, it says to choose
"Always Allow", which would put it in your allowed items, but I don't have
the option to always allow it when Windows Defender asks. This is even a
bigger problem for me because I have the thing that I need to allow as a
scheduled task...

I've been having this same problem with my web accelerator. Every time I use
it I get notified. when I allow it I am told I did so successfully but it is
not added to the allowed list. It is shown in the history list. What's up?

I'm confused too. I thought the "Allowed list" is for programs which we
allowed, but might want to block them in future. Any hint where we could do
this?

How about changing the title to "Potential Threats" instead. :)
