The new version of Vue Scan asks for an It8 target specification. I
have no idea what this is. I am just trying to scan some CD covers
with an old Astra 2400S scanner. There are no It8 specs listed for it
when I go to the UMAX website. What do I put in for It8?

Thanks Mark Rigler

The new version of Vue Scan asks for an It8 target
specification. I have no idea what this is.

It should only ask if you are profiling, not when you are scanning.
Check your Input Scanning task.

The IT8 target is an international agreed upon target used for profile
creation. Excellent, and relatively affordable, targets are sold by
Wolf Faust on:

appreciate your response but I still don't know what to put in there or
what it means. What is a "target" in scanning

What do you mean with setting up the scanner? VueScan doesn't need
setting up for scanning except for things like selecting the input
source and material. When you select "profile scanner" as task, then
it'll ask for the IT8 information.

A target is a "Test target", an object (reflective print or slide) to
be scanned, as shown on the link I provided.
