it getting very annoying!

Can anyone please tell me a way to stop the annoying ads
from the net?? It slowing my computer down!!!
I'm not realli good at this computer stuff, so if u know,
can u help explain in a more easier way??

For Messenger Service ads:
You need to install or enable a firewall:

Disabling Messenger Service can be a good idea, but it does not solve
the real problem.
The ads are not the real problem, the ads are only a symptom.
The real problem is open ports that allow unwanted traffic into the
computer.
Disabling Messenger does nothing for the open ports.
The firewall controls the traffic.

Internet Connection Firewall will not work if you have AOL.
AOL is not compatible with Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall
(ICF)
If you have AOL, you should contact AOL and/or get a 3rd party
firewall:

Disable Messenger Service:
Start/Control Panel, click Administrative Tools, click Services.
Go down to "Messenger".
Right click "Messenger" and select Properties.

First if you have AOL. Run don't walk but run away!!!.
Next get an isp either locally or someone like MSN or
Earthlink. Then go to ZDNET.com and download free
software called Stop the pop. It will help some. Then if
you want even better pop up contols and spam blockers
switch to Earthlink.net for your internet service they
have the #1 blocker and filters absolutley free. There is
a reason they are number one now with their pop up
blocker software and email spam filters

I find the Google Toolbar effective in eliminating popup's and it
provides good extra functions for Google searches.
