Why does MS Antispyware detect IST.ISTbar and acts like it
removes it but when you reboot you have it again?

How do you get this thing off your computer for good?

I think its normally associated with a spy virus.
This has been spreading recently, it is a tough one.

The Best results I have had in removing this one is to use
webroot spysearch and scan in safe mode.
Let it remove as much as it can.
Then search for "temporary" (hidden files too) and clear
out all caches. for all profiles on your XP computer.
This has worked pretty well for me.

Like Alex said, enable hidden files, restart in safe mode, empty your
temporary files directory, on the Scan Page in MSAS, select Scan Options >
Full System Scan.

Do you mean Webroot Spy Sweeper ?

Thanks

Yeah, I got it. I'm an experienced user with many years behind me.
MSAS is not removing this one from my system, NAV2003 is not even
detecting it.

When I remove the ISTbar (plus the variation) with MSAS it re-infects
with or without a reboot. Very irritating.

Some direction would be useful. Is re-scanning in safe mode necessary?

Thanks,
