The following keeps coming up in my MS AntiSpyware
alerts. I have removed it several times and restarted my
computer. All the spyware says to do but still comes
back.

IST.ISTbar
Type: Browser Modifier
Threat Level: Severe
Author: Integrated Search Technologies/CDT Inc.

Description: ISTbar is an Internet Explorer redirector
that modifies your homepage and searches without your
consent using an Internet Explorer toolbar.

Advice: This is a very high risk threat and should be
removed immediately as to prevent harm to your computer
or your privacy.

James,

Do a scan while disconnected from the internet, then reboot to Safe Mode
and do at least 2 Full System scans with all 3 boxes checked.
Reconnect the system to the 'net. Reboot to Normal mode and scan once
more to see if it's gone.

I would strongly recommend Lavasoft's adaware which can be
downloaded at: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
I too had the IST bar causing all sorts of problem with
the antspyware running and eventually found the download
from lavasoft the best, it has cleared it completely and
IST is no longer present on the infected machine.

On a more interesting note I did inform the spynet
facility on several occasions and recieved nothing back.
Surely if Microsoft want this tool to work they have to
become more timely in distributing signature updates and
cleansing facilities?

Hello,

I have this little bugger in my computer. Can't be killed,
only postponed. It shows up time and time again. It seems
like the guy who wrote this used to work for MIcrosoft
because he sure knows where to do the most damage.

This spyware will actually change your programs, take over
your memory and do all kinds of crazy things. As it stands
now it only shows up in the registry. I think that it has
a launcher with a different name so as to not be found. If
I happen to come accross it I'll post it here so you can
get rid of the guy. If you do find it before I do please
post it so I can do the same.

I'm thinking of just using Netscape browser or even better
that new one called Firefox. I never had problems before
with Netscape.

Good luck with the hunt.
