Having problems removing IST.ISTbar. I have tried
different removal programs (Microsoft,spyhunter,ad-
aware). They all remove it but everytime I start my
computer it returns. I even tried Symantec's removel
tool, nothing works. Please help

MANY TIME YOU MUST DISABLE SYSTEM RESORE WHEN YOU ARE
TRYING TO REMOVE A VIRUS
In win xp go to controll panel then click the system icon
click the system restore tab and check the box that says
turn off system restore after that follow the steps in
this link

When your done reboot run you anti virus and anti spyware
programs if it is all clean turn system restore back on
and your good to go
 
Getting rid of the IST Bar was certainly a JOB!! Numerous
runs of Spybot Search and Destroy, along with Ad-Aware.
While both of those programs detected the IST... and I
removed the entries found, they didn't find all
occurrences of the malware. Finally, feeling frustrated
and with nothing to lose, I bravely and naively
entered "regedit" without a backup no less!! Once in the
registsry, I promptly hit "Find" - ist... and deleted
every entry manually - and there were plenty (not to
mention I had to be aware and not delete hISTory, for
example). I haven't had the IST problem since - and,
luckily didn't detroy winXP in the process of editing my
registry (which I know little about!). By the way, I
rather like MS AntiSpyware, it is really very very fast,
and combines the actions of spybot and ad-aware, it seems
to me. I know that MS AntiSpyware caught a browser
hijack immediately... ran a scan and detected 7 problems.
McAfee virus scanner was also running at the time - it
was a bit slower in catching the hijacker, the scan took
at least 3 times as long, and it only showed 1 problem
(and, no I had not yet deleted the errors MS AS had
detected because I wanted to see how each program did
their job!). (sorry - longwinded tonight). *smile*
 
I was able to finaly get rid of this. I used MAS to get
rid of IST bar. I found a file called FCIWWRE.EXE in the
windows folder and deleted it. I also delete the
registration entry for the same file
in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentV
ersion\Run fciwwrc Service. I haven't had any problems
since. I hope this will help someone else.

It happened to me also in the same way you described it.
I could only get rid of the ISTbar when I made an
deinstallation of the ISTsvc Program, using
the "add/remove software" command of XP.

Having same problem here, only my IST.ISTbar removed
itself. It keeps coming back on you cause its in your
registry, but unless you know ALOT about computers DO
NOT!! I REPEAT DO NOT!!! Touch your registry AT ALL!!!!!
