Hello! I am a newcomer to this forum and I think it's a great way to share
Windows Vista experiences among the on-line community. Now, here is what's
been troubling me.

I have successfully installed Windows 98 on Virtual PC 2007. However, I'm
having some problems with it.

The reason I did this is to be able to play games designed for Windows 98
that have compatibility issues with Windows XP and Vista (like Crimson Skies
for example). I can't install Windows 98 on a separate partition on my PC
because there are no drivers for it for my computer.

I have two main issues.

First, driver that installs automatically with Windows is S3, and it doesn't
support 3D acceleration. Is there a way to enable 3D acceleration in this
kind of virtual machine?

Second, I'm having problems with sound. Virtual PC 2007 seems to
incompatible with my Creative X-Fi sound card. Could someone suggest to me
how to resolve this, please?

I am interested to hear any ideas you might have.

Yeah, I have installed add-ons, and updated Creative drivers. So 3D
acceleration is not supported... Is there a program othor than Virtual PC
2007 that DOES support 3D acceleration?

No, and no.

Virtual PC works by virtualizing a hardware environment for operating
systems to run under. A number of "least-common-denominator" items were
selected to be emulated such as the S3 video device, SoundBlaster 16, Intel
440BX chipset, DEC 21140 network card, and so on. There is no way to change
the emulated hardware to something else since it's hard-wired into the
Virtual PC environment.

If these are DOS game, and it sounds like they are, use DOSBox instead.

Try downloading the Sound Blaster 16 driver into your Virtual OS, not your
Host OS. I had the same problem with my virtually installed Server 2003,
which by the way, servers don't have sound usually, and I have sound working
