Issues with power options

Steve

This software appears to have a compatibility problem. I
observed that the Windows XP did not put my PC into stand-
by as it should when Real-Time Protection is active.
For reasons not relevant to this issue, Windows should
progressively activate the screen saver; turn off the
monitor; go to stand-by as the machine time goes by when
idle.
I observe that what happens is that instead of the monitor
being turned off the monitor stays on and the screen saver
mode is cancelled.
One of the great problems with trying to run a secure and
stable system is getting software that, despite the
claims, is actually compatible with Windows XP. Even
though this is a beta release, I had hoped that Microsoft
could have issued something that was compatible with its
own operating system.

Steve - thanks for providing useful feedback. This product was developed by
a third-party, and is being integrated by Microsoft--as you can see, that
work isn't done yet. They wanted to provide the technology to lots of
people quickly because of the prevalence of the spyware problem.

Possible work aorund...

I had the same issue on my Laptop until I
disabled "Scheduled" scans. Stand by works fine now.

Interesting--thanks for the report.

I hope part of the work Microsoft is undertaking will be migrating the
scheduling function from one built-into the app to using the OS's inbuilt
scheduling mechanism, which are time tested and work!
