we found a virus that norton has found but has not been able to find a fix
for it.
that might be associated with this issue.
Norton has found it as: Trojan.Vimalov

Aloha Bret,

That may be the issue - we've got a couple of clients who saw the same problem
and uninstalling Yahoo! toolbar seems to have fixed it for them.
