Hi,
Due to a new software install it has become apparent that we need to raise
the functional level in our Window 2000 Active Directory to Native mode, from
mixed. We have one forest, with a root domain and a child domain which are
both currently on Mixed mode. The only clients logging into the domain are
2000 and XP, and one 'bloxx' device based on linux which authenticates itself
to download users with an LDAP query. We only have Windows 2000 DCs.
Although it just looks like "click a button and it's done", some of my most
catastrophic problems have started with these "simple processes" so I was
hoping someone who'd done it or an MCSE would be able to shed some light
before we go for it! Is there any likely problems we'll encounter? Should
we do it in a particular order? (ie. root first). Any time of day best to do
it, such as around the time most users will be logged in, or after hours when
no one is in? What checks should we do first?
Thanks in advance,
Chris
