Issue with connecting to Microsoft Discussion groups

Presently communicating from a public machine. I routinely submit questions
to Microsoft discussion groups. One by one, each of my computers have not
been able to connect to read responses. This is not an account/password
issue. When on the discussion page, the sign in button, when clicked returns
me to the same discussion page. There is no option to enter the live ID
account information. I have trusted the Microsoft domain and allowed popups
on the individual sites. This problem has also affected two XP machines I
own. They all worked perfectly for a time. Not sure how to troubleshoot
this issue. Guidance sought.

There is a problem for the vista general newsgroup that Microsoft is aware
of, but will not allow Communities posts for that group via the web
interface. Only Windows Mail, and Windows Live Mail can post with Passport
authentication. I assume it has to do with alll the troll posts here lately,
but that's just my guess. Anyway, you are not the only one seeing this
problem, almost everyone using the web interface for the vista.general group
cannot sign in. Those few who seem to succeed are doing it in some way I
can't determine for sure, but I think it has to do with the availability of
the IP. You can clearly see the diminished number of those web interface
posts made for the last few months.

Wrong , Mark.
I use the Web interface, and POST here; or have you missed that, lol.
The original link to Vista Discussions IS broken.

BUT, the link I posted here WORKS.
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx

You scroll down the list to: microsoft.public.windows THEN expand it for
Vista Newsgroups

And it works the same as the broken one; sign in via Hotmaill Account.
MS emailed me this link months ago, when it 1st happened.

Put it in your Favs, so you won't forget it; or give wrong info, after I
have posted CORRECT info..

MF is incorrect in what he told you.
The link I supplied works for the Web Interface.

Yes, the other path works, though it fails to show a 'sign in' icon on the
page, the sign in happens if you open the 'profile' icon, or use the upper
sign in link at the very top. I retain my theory that the IP of the user
controls the success or failure of web posting however. I would guess it to
be some html code error on that page. The lack of the 'sign in' icon on this
other page would imply some problem on the Passport function for both sites
page access. Thanks for the helpful info. I will pass this on to the page
builders.

Looking at the new page again, I also see a 'click here to install
Silverlight' bar at the top of the page. I would be interested in hearing
from you if you see the missing sign in and present silverlight bar on the
working page, and a present, non working sing in, and no silverlight link on
the non-working page.

Mark, "click here to install silverlight" is a standard advert from MS on
most of their pages.
Of course, you don't need it.

And the sign-in link is in the upper right-hand corner of every page,
including the link I posted.
If you don't see sign-in, the sign-in page comes up when you click on "Reply"
You don't see the options I do.
The other link will not be fixed by MS.
Why, I don't know.

Personally, I like the Web Interface; everything is laid out in front of me,
and i know where i am up to with it.
And it was nothing to do with Trolls, or being blocked by MS.
