Did you use the "burn image file to disc" function of your burning software?
The .iso file is simply a dvd image that needs to be transferred back to
physical media.

I had that problem too
I got the file burnt to DVD by using the "Disk copy" feature in my burning
program
when you select the "Source" choose "burn from image" this is depending on
what software you have I used ulead burn now ver 1.15 but all burning
programs will have this feature some items may be named a little
differently.
Hope this helps

Hi,

Did you simply burn a copy of the file to the DVD, or did you use a burning
program's "burn as image" function? You must do the latter for it to work.

I do not remember "how" I burned it. How do you transfer it back? I
downloaded a program called "WinImage" but it doesn't do anything either?

You must burn the Iso with a burning program by choosing "burn an image to
disk", not send the iso as one file to the burner.

The iso itself contains hundreds folders and files - think of it as a huge
zip-file.

You can only see and use the files when the iso is written to a disc, there
it gets expanded.

All other ways lead to a uninstallable disk.

If you need a very good free burning software : ImgBurn is the name of
it.Runs on 2000/XP and all Vista

Example on how to do it with ImgBurn: 4Steps and you are done.

Go to : Source --"Please select a file" --> click the browse for file icon

choose the vista-iso file that you have downloaded

Destination : Select your DVD burner.

Then Press the big Icon with the Harddisk to DVD and it will make your
VistaDisk.

Enjoy

What do you do now? They only let 100K people download it and it is not
available to try again?

Sascha, I appreciate your help, but please bear with me. I downloaded the
IMgBurn program. THe file that I have "is" on my DVD drive. Do I need to copy
that to my harddrive and then follow your steps?

I would suggest you to copy the iso to a place on your harddisk, yes.
something easy to find like Desktop or so.

check for the filesize, it must say 2,5 Gigabyte for the x86 version or even
3.6 for the x64 version.

Setup/install the ImgBurn Application, believe me it is very easy.If you
are on Windows Xp everything shall work right away, if you are under A
Windows Vista then right click ImgBurn to run with Administrator
privilegues.

Then follow my first answer to you, where I explained how to burn a iso with
that ImgBurn app.

If the iso file is currently on DVD, unless you have 2 DVD burners in your
system, yes, you will have to copy the file to your hard disk. Even if you
do have 2 DVD burners, probably better to copy the file to your hard drive
anyway.

Don't you still have the downloaded .iso image saved on your system?

Hi Daryl,

Just copy the file from the DVD to hard drive, then use a burning program
to properly burn it as a disk image.

You burn the downloaded image directly to a dvd with burning software like
Nero or Roxio EMC. You can download a trial of the latest version which
works on Vista.

If you copied the ISO to DVD, just copy it back to the HD or place the
DVD with the ISO into another DVD drive.

If you have Nero installed, and you double click on a ISO, Nero fires
off and waits for a blank (of the proper media) to be placed into the
drive. Just click BURN.
All my 32 bit versions have burnt this way at the full 16x speed on my
Plextor burner.

I downloaded the Vista 64 bit iso onto 3 different computers, each with dvd
burners. I have tried nero, imgburn, even dvdbur.exe on the 64 bit windows xp
installed computert and it burns only 10%. I next went to another computer
tried nero, magicburn and plato on it and it says it successfully burned the
iso but theres nothing on the disks, 3rd pc i tried nero and apollo and same
scenario as the second. Next, on all 3 i tried viewing the contents of the
iso with winrar (as winrar usually will extract an iso to hard drive if you
so desire) and all i see in that entire iso, is 1 readme file, all three
systems all 3 downloads, same thing. wtf?

Can't imagine what you are doing wrong. I downloaded both the 32 and 64 bit
iso files and used DVD Decrypter to burn the DVD's and both work just fine.
