Warning, I am a Linux newbie...
Okay, I am going to build a dedicated Linux box, no more of this dual boot
stuff (never could get it working right). I am looking for a recommendation
for a good P4 motherboard with preferably 2 legacy ATA (right term?) headers,
on-board audio, and at least 3 usable legacy PCI slots. PCIx for video card a
bonus. Must play well with Linux!
intention: to run 1 or 2 PCHDTV cards with a nVidia video card. See
http://www.pchdtv.com/ for background.
I ask because I have a Asus P5AD2-E Deluxe that simply will not play nice with
Fedora Core 4, Debian, or the desired KnoppMyth ("cannot find filesystem"
error). I mean, the FC4 and Knoppmyth install disks won't even get started, no
matter how much I mess with my hardware configuration and BIOS.
So I just want something that is known good and meets my params above. I am
going to abandon SATA and disable it in the BIOS and use legacy connectors so
this will WORK RIGHT and be STABLE.
Thanks!!
