I am having trouble opening a database. It should go straight to a form in
startup, but instead I get an error message (below) and opens to the database
window. However, there are no objects visible in any of the windows, and
each time I change tabs I get an error message. If I try to go to the Tables
tab, the message is "Operation invalid without a current index". Any other
tab and the message is:-
" isn't an index in this table. Look in the Indexes collection of the
TableDef object to determine the valid index names. (Error 3015)

I have tried making the system objects visible to see what is there, tried
doing a Compact and Repair, tried opening with the shift key held down to
disable the startup but nothing helps.

I am using Access 97, but have also tried this with a copy in Access 2003 as
well.

HELP PLEASE!

YOu have a corrupt database - probably corrupt systems tables. See

http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruptmdbs.htm

for suggestions; this symptom is on Tony's list. IIRC you'll need to
create a new database and manually import all the objects from this
one, Compact & Repair usually can't fix it.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have already tried that. I created a new
blank database, went to import the objects from the old one but the import
screen opened with no objects showing, and the same message each time I
changed from tab to tab.

Hope you have a good backup...

Check the database recovery suggested links at Tony's site. Have your
credit card ready.
