I don't think there is a recommendation one way or the other, but there are
things that should be done differently to stop registrations of addresses on
the external NIC.

There isn't a recommendation either way. There shouldn't be a problem with putting DNS on the ISA server though and can simplify some things. I would
recommend against putting a ISA on a DC though. This can be problematic.
