I just wanted to know if there are any steps that need to
be taken to make sure that an ISA slot can be
used/recognized using an XP operating system. I have a
device plugged into the ISA slot and it isn't recognized
at all.

The card may not be a plug and play card, so you need to use
the add hardware app on the control panel.

I recalling reading somewhere that XP does not support
ISA. You might want to verify that be searching the
Microsoft support area. Certainly ISA is on its way out;
my 1995 PC was mostly ISA, my 1998 PC was mostly PCI, my
2003 PC is 100% PCI (plus AGP).
