I am trying to join a forum and I keep getting an error message saying that
I can't register because I am running a script and it is a security issue.
As far as I know I am not running any scripts. I have never executed any
scripts, ever.
Is there some way that I can find out if there are any scripts running on my
PC?
I hope this is the right newsgroup but I couldn't see one that fit this
problem.

Can you post the * exact * error message ?

Sure, no problem..here is the error message..

SECURITY ALERT » » » »
CBACK CrackerTracker has detected a potential attack on this site with
a worm or exploit script so the Security System stopped the script.

If you can see this page after including a new MOD into your board or
after clicking on a link please contact the Board Administrator with this
error message and a description what you have done before you could see this
page, that the Admin has the possibility to fix the problem.

Your system might be infected by a virus or something such as that.

Assuming it is not infected, the fact that the message says "the Admin has
the possibility to fix the problem", perhaps there is a problem with their
software that they are aware of. If so, then asking for help here is not
productive; if the problem is with their software, then you must get help
from them.

Thanks, for the info. I don't have a virus and I have run Spy Bot and
Adware. I did contact them and they keep telling me that I'm either running
a script, which I'm not aware I am or using a proxy which I know I'm not. I
too, thought that there was a problem at their end. Oh well..thanks for
trying to help.

What antivirus program are you running on your system ?

Ruth , you say you don`t have a virus , but , Spy Bot and Adaware are
* not * antivirus programs .

I run Norton Antivirus and it says there are no virus' on my machine...
Proving that you do not have a virus is not possible. What Norton is saying
that you don't have one of the many that it can detect.
That is not the same thing as saying that you do not have a virus on your
machine.

Hi Ruth , just googled CBACK CrackerTracker and that is
your problem . It is malware , and you need to get rid of it .

(PS Norton is total rubbish )

Thanks for all your input, but I have 4 PC's in the house and everyone of
them gives me the same message. One of them is not used for the Internet,
strictly backup and I tried that one and same message. I guess I will just
forget joining that particular forum.
Thanks anyway.

If they are all * joined together* , Local Area Network , then they
WILL all be infected .
