I'm still trying to get my Epson 3170 working in Linux (with no luck
so far, but admittedly I am something of a Linux neophyte.) I have
been trying various software packages, Epson's Iscan, Sane, and I
would like to try VueScan. Ed Hamrick wrote here a couple months ago
that the standard edition could be used at no cost for personal use on
Linux. I would like to try it, but I haven't figured out how to do
that since there is a reference to using the unlocking code. I have no
objection of course to paying for this, and I suspect I'll buy the
professional edition in fall when I do more scanning (I take pictures
in the summer) but in the interim, I'd like to just try Standard
Vuescan while I am educating myself in Linux, particularly while I am
trying to get my scanner to work with that OS. BTW I am using Fedora
Core 2 at the moment.
