Is VSS still supported?

Hm, i don't know about that "wonderful" bit :)
I've seen some quirky behavior in the VSS integration, especially in a
multi-programmer envinronment (and more especially with web projects).
Plus, I can't stand the fact that VSS still looks a lot like a 16-bit
program wearing a 32-bit jacket - although if you run it in integrated mode,
you don't see as much of that.
Overall, though, I do prefer VSS to most other source control software out
there. Also, the integration CAN be extremely cool at times :-)
If you guys haven't tried out the "alternative", give Source Gear's Vault a
spin. It integrates in much the same way, and puts the source in a "real"
database - another pet peeve of mine is the VSS "database" which fragments
and corrupts at the drop of a hat when it gets to be a certain size.

Rob,

I'm not sure why you are having such problems, but we have found it to
be quite stable on a stable Win2K server. We have been adding to our
VSS database for several years now (including one upgrade from vss5 to
6) and have several large projects in it(along with a lot of
documentation, we use it for almost everything we do). One of my jobs
is monitoring the health of the VSS database, and I just haven't seen
any problems, zero, zip, none. We have seen some quirky actions with
Source Off Site, but each time I research such a complaint the VSS
database is intact and the problem is with SOS.

Is it possible there is something going on with your server or are you
just speaking on a scale I can't imagine!

Regards,
Charlie Smith

Yes, it is.. and it's integration is wonderful.

Can yo plese provide me with a starting point in MSDN. I typed VSS
but didn't get a good begining topic to start with.

If you want to integrate w/ VS.NET, i think you need to use the latest
patch/upgrade to VSS (6.0d or something like that).
