Hi,
I've been discussing some external enclosure problems here and
elsewhere recently. These have been mainly related to the full
capacity of large hard drives not being recognised when used in some
enclosures.
Some clearly knowledgable people here have indicated that the case
electronics are often deficient where large HD's are concerned,
particularly for USB2 .
In attempting to resolve the problem with the case supplier, there has
been a tendency on the supplier's part to fault the computer BIOS.
So, I tried the external case on 2 other PC's that had no trouble with
large internal HD's and the same problem occurred.
To help establish clearly where the fault lies, can anyone please
explain what role, if any the computer BIOS has in running hard
drives fitted in this type of external enclosure?
Regards,
