The research arm of SuperAdBlocker. Yes, it is legitimate and SuperAdBlocker has beeb seen
to remove malware that other software failed at. SuperAdBlocker is allowed to be installed

BUT.
Does not accept Netscape...

Robert,

The FileResearchCenter.com currently supports Internet Explorer and FireFox
with native plugins. The Netscape build of the Mozilla source has changed
some internal items not allowing our plugins to work properly. We may
address this in the future, but we find most users have either Internet
Explorer or FireFox installed to scan their computer.

Nick,

I will make you a deal. Not only will I add Super Ad Blocker to my
list of "really cool, many people use" Anti-Spyware
applications/tools, I will also purchase a copy, if you:

1) At least make an effort to make The File Research Center, and other
resources, compatible with all modern RFC Standards-Compliant browsers
(IE is not one) including Opera and SeaMonkey (the future of
Mozilla/Netscape).

2) Quit using phrases like "we find most users have either Internet
Explorer or FireFox installed". This is the same mantra espoused by
IE/ActiveX developers, and all it does is piss people off. It is
tantamount to "IE won the browser wars. Get over it and use IE, or go
away." You are better than that.

Ron :)

Ron,

Thank you for the offer, as a small company, we can always use the extra
support! As a regular poster in this group, I would be happy to provide you
a complimentary registered copy of Super Ad Blocker - e-mail me directly and
I will send it out. We always try and support all operating systems and
browsers with our product(s). With more limited resources than some larger
companies, we have to support the "biggest players" first, I would hope that
you and other users would understand that position. The other browsers such
as Opera and Netscape are on our "list" of future browsers to support.

As far as my statement, that is, possibly unfortunately, a fact. Internet
Explorer comes installed with Windows and FireFox is the #2 browser behind
IE. At no point have I said "IE won the browser wars" or told people to use
IE over another browser. As a professional software developer, the reality
is that there are hundreds of millions of users using IE, and another 100
million downloads of FireFox so those two represent the largest target base
in today's market.

ActiveX is not a bad technology - it was a technology designed to enhance
the browsing experience that was exploited by spyware/malware developers.
FireFox XPCOM will suffer the same problem, as well as SeaMonkey or Opera
when they gain wide spread acceptance and use - just as we target the
biggest sets of users for legitimate products, so do the developers of the
spyware/malware.

All of the current browsers have their merits and downfalls, that is the way
it always has been, and always will be with software - not one product can
satisfy every users needs.

Nick,

Thanks. I appreciate your offer, though not necessary, but I will take
you up on it. I have a WinXP box that I need to clean up for a friend,
sometime soon as he's not using it right now. I will use Super Ad
Blocker to clean it up and let you and everyone else know how it goes.
I will then purchase a copy for him to use on his box.

BTW, his WinXP box was compromized like this:

Long:

Short:

Some customer database software that he bought wouldn't work over the
Internet with SP2, and so the vendor disabled some of the security
features. He connected to broadband, fired up IE and got hi-jacked. I
decided then that I wouldn't let that happen to me. Been paranoid ever
since. <g>

Again, thanks. I'll be in touch.
Ron :)
