Should you have responded to your original post?
Yes.

Should you be more patient, knowing that this newsgroup is posted worldwide
to thousands of servers and your answers come from volunteers?
Yes.

Should you ask what "question in another group.."?
Who knows.. That's pretty incomplete. However, knowing that this group is
for BEGINNERS to ask questions in, your questions and response
method/patience level here leads me to believe you posted in the correct
group. =)

Assuming you are the Jason that posted this:

"Hi, I have had some OS files destroyed or corrupted, so
I'm trying to repair my win files with my OS CD. When I
try and install windows I get a box that is Titled "No
association for File Extension", in the box it
says "E:\Setup\Setup.exe" then under that it says "Make
sure the proper software is installed". How do I get
that software or path or whatever in order to repair my
win files? Any help would be deeply appreciated, Thanks"

Then you need to give more information on "how" you are doing this repair
you are supposedly doing.. What told you that you had "OS files destroyed or
corrupted" and so on.

You may want to perform a repair installation of Windows XP:

or

or

How about the good old system file checker utility
start / ru

sfc.exe /purgecache /scannow

An hour and 41 minutes us hardly "hours". Learn some damned patience. This
isn't MS tech support and no one is going to email you. This is a
peer-to-peer newsgroup, not a personal help service.

He's been answered elsewhere. I saw his previous post in this group, but as I don't normally answer questions where MS has made it impossible to (I would have posted a reg file a year ago) I skipped it. Then saw him ask again and took pity (which I don't normally do - these people pay MS to stuff up MY windows - they are guilty of theft).

It's obviously too much for an egocentric idiot like
candy. Ignore him - he, I mean, it, never has anything
useful to say. Has a lot of trouble with his
sphincters when he's online.

So I should let these people continue to answer a dead thread. He left here and went to general.
