Hello,

I was searching to find out why my Windows Media Player gave me the error
message "No combination of filters could be found to render the stream.
(Error=80040218)" I am using version 6.4.07.1112. Hardly ever use it
though.

While searching for the error on Google I came across this site
http://www.pcbugdoctor.com/ About 3/4 down the page is this statement
"Download your FREE copy NOW!" Is this a gimmick, or a real freeware?

Is there a freeware player that mimics Windows Media Player. I really
don't want Media Player 9 if I can get away with not downloading it.

Thank you for your time,

Your getting that error because you don't have the codecs required to
playback the stream......

As for the program, no it's not freeware

As for a WMP replacement, it depends on what you want it to do (i.e. audio
only or audio + video, or audio + radio or audio + radio + video)

As Mark pointed out already, get Media Player Classic. But the error
comes from lack of codecs - get and install ffdshow library and then
you will be able to play almost anything.

Thanks for the replies. I've downloaded Media Player Classic, and just got
the ffdshow library. Hope this works for me.

Thanks again
