Is this RAM ok?

Sorry, I ain't even gonna visit the link ...

You want memory, then go to the pro ...

... never have 'trusted' eBay. ;)

ECC = Error Correcting Code ... non ECC don't have it. :D

The seller probably isn't dodgy with that much feedback, but ebay won't be the best place to buy something like memory. You get what you pay for when you buy something like that.

I'd agree with Mucks and say that Crucial is a good place to get quality memory (and customer service).

Take a look at some of the offers on ebuyer.co.uk and see if they have anything good. :) But, it might be more expensive for DDR3200.

hi, so that seller is dodgy on ebay? he has big feedback
Ian took the words out of me mouth ... I don't 'trust' eBay. ;)

You asked, I replied honestly. :D

I think somebody else bought memory from e-bay on this forum, turned out it would only work to a very strict set of parameters, which his system didn't meet. Read the small print.

Go to Crucial or the generic stuff at OCUK is quite good, cheap too.

E-Buyer is another economical option.

For memory, steer clear of e-bay cos there ain't no such thing as a free lunch :)

Mucks is very much the wise one...

Take a look at this:

feedback.png

225 disgruntled, unresolved complaints in one month?

I'm sorry, if that was my business that would be unacceptable to me.

If you look, he always posts the same generic response trying to cover up.

Just because he does a lot of business surely doesn't mean you can overlook THAT MANY disgruntled customers, I don't care about the percentages.

Ahh, the wonders of eBay. And after all that worry about delivery etc. It'll probably turn up Not As Described or worse.

hi, yeah i guess ur right. Except that his neg feedback hasn't been about fake goods or anything, more so about delivery times and communication.

That would be me .

Bought two Athalon 64 cpu's from this seller and 2 GB of memory of him on three seperate occasions . All came in a reasonable time and were well packed . Compared to uk prices they were very cheap even with the postage .

Both cpu's work just fine .

Memory works just fine in three mobos I have tried it in and passed all test I have put it through , Memtest , Everest .

Trouble is it won't work in my Asus mobo on my main pc . I think that is down to the mobo being a bit picky.

hi, did that seller post from UK or US because I checked some of his listings, it seems he uses 2 destinations for item location

cool - would you say the items looked genuine (original) or were there any doubts?

Also, was there any customs charge?

I'm sorry the RAM didn't work - but you had alot of warnings here to that possibility to be fair.

Personally I would never recommend anyone buying RAM off eBay no matter what the rep is for the seller - and I wish as a forum we could all stick together on this and point enquirers in the right direction regardless of folks having the odd success.

can you tell us the error message?

Best bet would be here

http://www.crucial.com/uk/index.aspx?cpe=CHAWKuk

If you get a refund on the ram.

Windows didn't load up and a blue screen appeared saying your system will shut down in order to prevent the system from having problems. Cant remember the full error message but windows wont boot up and system prompts to shut down PC to prevent problems. I think it said something about new hardware installed and memory problem.

You can download memtest86 for free and make a boot CD to check your ram, but I suspect it is just faulty.

Make sure you push the ram all the way in.

The ram may be a mismatch with the one you got now.
