Is this possible?

Please, check the Vista index and the Graphics Card index! Is that possible
given the other indices? Those indices are for a HP Pavilion tx1000z CTO
TabletPC. Do I need a new graphics Card? How does this compare to the Intel
945GM? Anybody?

Vista Index 3.0 Determined by lowest subscore

Processor AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 4.8
Memory (RAM) 1.93 GB
5.5
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150
3.1
Gaming graphics 335 MB Total available graphics memory 3.0
Primary hard disk 98GB Free (140GB Total)
4.8
The OS is Windows Vista (TM) Ultimate

Cheers,

Eugene

Unless you are a major gamer, or some of your games do not display the
detail that you expect or want, then don't change your video card.. while it
is true that the 6150 is not top flight stuff, for the majority of tasks, it
is ok..

Thanks for replying! Yes, you did ask the right question! Yes I am very
pleased with the graphs, very pleased! However, my curiosity was about why a
TabletPC with such a stuning graphs can be indexed so low! It helps my eye
sight a lot especially when I am reading!

Cheers,

Gene

Clearly it's possible since you got those ratings. The question is, do
you feel you need an upgrade? Does your system perform to your
satisfaction?

Thank you for replying! I could not agree with you more and, no, no major
gamer here! All is good!

As Mike pointed out, those performance ratings are for mainly of interest to
gamers or folks running heavy 3D or graphic intensive programs. It's been
my experience that any card that rates 2.0 or better will perform well
enough with Vista Aero features enabled and still be able to satisfy the
normal desktop user.

Gene,

I'm running an HP tx1119us and get the same numbers. Since this is a laptop,
chances of upgrading the graphics are somewhere between slim and none.

For what its worth, with a fresh install of Ultimate, I got 2.4 on the
Gaming graphics score...wasn't until I went into the 3D drivers and set them
for Performance rather than Quality that I got a 3.0.

It doesn't seem to matter to the score whether the BIOS allocates 64Mb or
128Mb to the graphics. I thought you needed 128Mb to run Aero, but
apparently not (or maybe Ultimate ignores the BIOS setting?).

Guys!

I want to sincerely thank all of you! Dana where do I find those 3D drivers?
I would like to try what you did. But again, I am not a gamer but an
educator and I was just baffled and curious. The tx1000z CTO graphics are
swell for Word, Excel and PowerPoint but I love to learn something new
everyday! I like that!

Cheers,

Gene

You can download the drivers from HP's web site - just give it the model
number. To tweak them to be faster, you have to right-click on the desktop,
go into Properties, then the Settings tab and the Advanced button. You
should have a tab for the 3D stuff with sliders to tweak the quality.

Thank you!
