I'm planning on taking out an old hard drive and swap it
with a new one. I have a cable connection and had some
questions. Is there any particular folder that my network
settings are kept so then I can restablish a cable
connection?

You can't really save your settings. Just plug in your modem, install the
driver everything should work again.

The file and settings transfer wizard is actually used
for this very purpose however you probably don't even
need to use it. The answer to this question will really
depend on the cable service provider as they can be
different from one region to another and it may also
depend on what type of account you have. Typically cable
uses DHCP to auto enter the settings, just plug it in and
go. If this does not work then the best place to go
would be the tech support for the provider, they should
walk you through the setup free of charge.

If all you are doing is upgrading to a bigger hard disk, then
you should be able to image the old disk to the new one.

Last time, I used a Norton Ghost boot floppy.

Shut down;
Install then new disk as a slave to the old master one;
Boot with the Ghost Floppy;
It sees both the old and new disks.

Select the source and destination,
tell it to go, and a few mins later it's done.

Set the new disk as master, pull the old disk out, and re-boot.
You're good to go.
